TILT GROOVE BAND are a South Carolina–based funk and R&B band formed in 2018 and built to move bodies, lift spirits, and turn every stage into a celebration.
They consist of lead vocalist Big Eddie, guitarist Caleb Williams, bassist James Gibson, drummer Joy Pinckney, organ and keyboard player Reverend J. Brown, saxophonist Bob Jones, trumpeter Roy Simons, percussionist Will Jackson, and backing vocal group The Sweet Sparks.
Their sound is playful, funky, danceable, joyful, energetic, whimsical, party-ready, and deeply groovy, blending classic rhythm & blues, soul, blues, and raw funk into a vibrant, live-driven experience.
Fronted by a powerful lead voice and supported by a full groove machine: guitars, bass, drums, organ, keyboards, sax, trumpet, percussion, and three dynamic backing vocalists. TILT GROOVE BAND deliver music that feels alive, sweaty, and irresistible. Every performance is driven by rhythm, call-and-response energy, and a deep connection with the audience.

Background
TILT GROOVE BAND were formed in the American South with one clear mission: bring groove back to the center of the room. Inspired by the raw power of classic funk and soul revues, the band approaches music as a communal ritual rather than a performance to be observed from a distance.
Their creative process is rooted in rhythm and feel. Songs often begin with a groove (a drum pattern, a bass line, a horn riff) before expanding into full arrangements driven by vocals, brass, and layered call-and-response sections. Improvisation plays a key role, allowing each performance to evolve organically and remain unpredictable.
TILT GROOVE BAND draw inspiration from the golden era of funk and R&B, channeling the joyful chaos, physicality, and showmanship of artists like Rufus Thomas, James Brown, Lafayette Afro Rock Band, Orgone, and the legendary groove sensibility of Bernard Purdie, reinterpreting that legacy through a modern, high-energy live format.
